I do it in the amp block. My concern with doing it in the cab block is that the preset levels will get wonky if I disable cabs.
That was going to be my suggestion as well. It's not 1:1 equivalent but it was developed by the guy who writes the algos for the Atomic modelers.
One potential gotcha is that some expression pedals are wired for reverse polarity because that's what some systems (e.g., Rocktron) require.
