I agree! Would love to have an old Ampeg guitar amp model, a Hiwatt, and a small Supro/Gretsch/Valco type. A small collection of non-high gain odd balls.
That said, the modeling of clean-yet-tubey and edge of breakup tones have really come into their own in the last couple of years. I haven't run an actual amp for any significant amount of time since I got an Amplifirebox and then an AF6. I have been consistently inspired by the Amplifire tones for over a year now. I used to pull out my Princeton and/or 18 Watt to see if I was just forgetting how great they sounded and found each time that while they were different than the Amplifire, they were no better. I even ran those amps through a variety of different speakers when I pulled them out.

Major kudos to Atomic and Studio Devil. Really great stuff! Keep 'em coming!
