    Hi,
I am pretty new to AF forum. I have got a AF12. I tried to download the new firmware 5.0.3, but after unzipping and opening the new version of the editor, the following message appears : "Please power cycle AF " , "hold the right footswitch while connecting teh power cable".
    Thanks for your help.

    Patlem,
Yes, this is part of the update procedure.
As you have an AF12, you can just use the on/off switch instead of unplugging the power cable.
Once you turn the power switch back on while holding down the bottom far right foot switch
the procedure will start and you can let go of the switch. Then don't touch the AF12 or the computer
while the procedure continues. It will take a few minutes. You'll see a progress bar on the computer.
    Wait unit that is done.

I also have an AF12 and when I tried to update the firmware from version 4 to version 5, I got the same messages but when I turned on the unit again by holding down the bottom far right foot switch, the computer (windows 7) did not start the update and I got an error message,
And now when I turn on the unit, the display does not turn on and all the leds on the foot switch are lit in amber.
What should I do when I stop crying?
    Thank you.

Hi Jon, I had a similar issue (Mac) Update of firmware V5.0.3 stalled,AF12 unresponsive. Rebooted MacPro / editor reopened this time without error message. Opened ‘file’ tab / ‘update firmware’ / held down ‘both’ up and down footswitches ( far right AF12 ) ... firmware V5.0.3 loaded aok. I’m thinking that the total reboot of system was probably the key. AF12 is connected to computer via USB powered hub.
    Wishing you success. Regards, Wayne.

    Hi, Wayne.
I've tried what you told me.
The AF12 still does not turn on and the computer does not detect it.
The display does not turn on and all the leds on the foot switch are lit in amber.
    Thanks anyway, though.

Even if the editor application is greyed out and says CANNOT CONNECT, you
should still have access to FILE-UPDATE FIRMWARE.
Give it a try a couple more times.
Wiggle the UPB cable a bit at both connections.
Try a different cable and/or USB port.

I to have the AA12, and I am having the same problem. When do I turn the AA off/on/ Do I do it before I "update firmware"? Before I open the editor? I'm trying it different ways and they are not working.

Make sure you have a minimum of Windows 7 or Mac OS 10.9.
Once you have the current Windows or Mac OS editor application downloaded and open,
turn your unit on and connect it to the computer via USB. Go to FILE-UPDATE FIRMWARE.
It will ask you to disconnect the power. As you have the AF12, just turn it off.
Hold the DOWN ARROW foot switch and turn it back on. Then release the foot switch.
Do not touch the unit or the computer unit the update is finished.
Watch the progress bar on the screen. It will refresh when it is done.
