    hi,

Been using a Midi mate with my AF3 for a long time but feel it’s too big.

Been looking at a new, and CHEAP, midi controller but there’s 1 problem: it recieves power through the midi cable.

    http://www.dvmark.it/product-detail/dv-evo1-controller/

    CH1 - MIDI program change #1
    CH2 - MIDI program change #2
    FX1 - MIDI control change #1
    FX2 - MIDI control change #2
BOOST - MIDI control change #3
(hold for mute/tuner) - MIDI control change #28
    MIDI OUT: DIN 5 poles
The MIDI TX CHANNEL is setted on #0
    POWER REQUIREMENT:9VDC / XXX mA
    (via MIDI cable)

So I get 2 switches with acces to program 1 and 2 og the AF3.
I get 3 switches to turn on/off FX on the AF3.

Problem is the controller is recieving power through the midi cable - something the AF3 doesn’t deliver.

    Here’s why I need you:

will it work with the AF3 if I open the controller, cut the 2 power wires from the midi out and solder them to a Voodoo Lab battery clip cable (without the battery clip only the cable) and let my Voodoo Lab 4x4 deliver the 9v to the controller ?

Hoping someone can help me out with this one :)

I can't tell you how many MIDIMATE pedals I've owned over the years! I love them!
DV Mark would have to tell you how to accomplish that safely and affectively.
They won't want you to do this and it will certainly void your warranty for their product.
There must be other small controllers that don't require 7-pin MIDI for power.

I have the DV Mark Multiamp midi controller. It also has a standard (Boss type) 9v power input (I use this not phantom power via midi cable). Plug your Voodoo power supply straight in. Great unit - small and configurable.

    Thanks for the replies, guys.

Been looking at the new Mongoose and it may end up being my new one. That'll free the 3 switches on the AF to on/off FXs. I like the size of it.

I just got a MorningStar MC6. All I can say is WOW!!! This thing is about as versatile as it comes. 6 buttons x 30 banks on a very tiny chassis with a programmable LED screen to let you know what the buttons are programmed to do. VERY reasonably priced too!

I’ve got the AA3 using the celestion irs. It’s tone is fantastic. I love the fact that it looks a lot cooler than the usual modelling pedals around. My only issue was the switching versatility. I then found the daelectronics ictrl mini controller and my prayers were answered. It has 8 presets via 4 switches and a v slider (motion sensor) that can be asunder to any parameter including wah. I would definitely check one out if you’re looking for a midi controller.

Vintage Digitech Control8 - that's what you need. Bought mine used for around 60USD. Works great with AA3

Wauw. Looks awesome. Does it all: PC and CC - plenty of both. A small too. Will try and keep an eye out for this one. Thanks.
