Can anyone get close to this Dumble tone (or tones) using AA?
I have ALWAYS LOVED this video since i saw it years ago. I find myself thinking of it and searching it out at least a few times per year. I would also love a preset that approached this tone. And one for his finger, too.
You can try with this preset, one problem I have with it’s that has the "modeling squirrels" that I can't avoid from some crunch amps, but I like it.
Other option is the "Robben Ford Method": when he can't travel with his dumble, he uses a zendrive with a Twin or a Super reverb / Fender amp. I have a clone (Mooer Rumble Drive) and it gets you there.
I started with Andy's tone above, and then changed just about everything to get a good clean tone.
I assume you're going after the clean at the start of the video?
I'm playing a Strat with a humbucker in the bridge. A humbucker in the neck position may be closer to the tone in the video. Although it sounds like he's using the bridge pickup...
I'll try it with my Gretsch Duo jet later. It has single coil Dynasonics in it.
This certainly isn't a match, but it is a good clean tone.
Happy Father's Day all!
Andy and Clint, thanks for the effort. I will give them a listen later and get back to you both.
My preset is more intended to the overdriven tone when you engage the boost, without it, it’s the amp when starts to break up. I don’t remember the source of the original preset, it had an OH Mesa 4x12 IR that I changed to the free signtail warm IR for sharing.
I like how it sound whith single coils (strat/tele) and with humbuckers (les paul/PRS).
I really like Andy's present for breakup. I was only going for a clean tone. The Dumble models are great! Very versatile.
Very nice patches, Gents. I combined elements of both into a keeper that works well with my fav guitar. I appreciate your efforts!
that's a great tone as well!
I tested the AF3 in May, pretty decent - ODS ford comes damn close to a real 4th gen high plate classic (yes, I do know and played the real amp, early 80s ODS....). The D-amps in the AF3 were much better than AF2, I was a long term user, but sold the unit in 2017. Recentely I bought a AFB - this has some nice D-tones in it for sure, will post mine asap!
Here is my D-style Preset! Enjoy..... Ampli-Firebox Preset incl. Cab-File (Bogner 2x12" V30 Cab)
here is a little demo of the preset:
Sounds great but can't import that on the AA6 right?
try, I guess this should work.....
Unfortunately you can't import AFB presets into the AA3, 6 or 12.
Since AFB can't be imported into AA6 or AA12 you can share your preset with screen shots of each block page settings and uploading the IR (if legal to do so).
Why this clip sounds that amazing might also be related to how it is recorded..
Which gives me the idea - also seeing the dummy head in the video..
@Jace Nuzback Can a binaural IR be produced - a stereo IR with proper mic placement, dummy head and stuff? That could -in theory- be an instant amp in the room guitar sound for headphones..
AA would be the perfect platform to host because it can handle stereo IR's.
