    Hi there,

I've been trying to update the firmware of my AF3 to the current v5.0.3 by downloading the newest editor and following the usual update procedure (select "Update Firmware" from the "FILE" menu in the editor and holding the rightmost footswitch on reboot as suggested by the dialog window). Updating the firmware has worked without problems in the past but now I always get the Message "An error occured". The progress bar that appears upon starting the the FW update process seems stuck at "zero" for about half a minute before i get the message. I've tried different USB cables, adding/removing a USB hub and changing the power supply (within the recommended range of specifications). The unit works flawlessly on its own and, prior to the editor update, editing via USB has been functional, too.

My unit's current FW is v4.0.1, System is v2.4.

My current main OS is macOS Sierra 10.12.6 but I've also tried to do the update on a Win8 machine which yielded the same results.

Any luck with this? I don't have a solution for you, other than to say I know you want to stay away from USB hubs, that caused an issue I had with a previous update. I will say that Tom was superbly helpful in steering me through that situation.

Hey there, thanks for your reply. Still no success, I'm afraid. Yeah, I usually avoid USB hubs for critical applications. I vaguely remembered that the older Apogee Symphony I/O didn't update it's firmware when connected to a USB3 port. Inserting a USB2 hub between port and unit has been the officially recommended remedy back then, so I thought it was worth a shot just in case the Amplifire had any potential aversion to a specific USB chipset. It was a wild (and unlikely) guess, but it was the only hope I had left. :D

BTW, any chance I could get my hands on an older editor file for OSX? I foolishly replaced mine with the newer one and my system backup drive is buried somewhere in a box after moving my studio.

I cannot update either... I don't get further than when it asks you to hold down the foot switch and than freezes. Then it won't even recognize the AA3 connected only after I restart the computer and then the same thing over and over again!!
    Please Help!!

    Everyone,
We're trying to figure out why a small amount of users are having trouble updating their AmpliFire to the latest firmware.
The more info you can provide us with, the better!
If you can send a screen shot, pic or short video showing the display screen on the unit and the computer screen when it freezes that will help.
We need to know exactly when in the update process this happens.
If you're a Windows user, you can send us a log file which will help too!
The path is C:/User/(Username)/AppData/Roaming/Amplifire > Amplifire log .txt
Also please provide the exact version of Windows or Mac OS that you're using.
send this info to me at jnuzback@atomicamps.com.

While we are still trying to fix the problem, I've had customers that had the update work
the 5th or 6th time that they've tried it. While you certainly shouldn't have to do this
sometimes it will work and solve your problem, so give it a try.

If you'd like to send your unit in for us to update it send an E-mail to support@atomicamps.com.
I'll set you up with an RMA# and shipping instructions.
We're very sorry for the inconvenience, but we are working hard on the problem.
    Thank you,
    Jace
