If I was still an AA3 owner, I would be furious. Thankfully, I'm not, but I completely understand any that are, feeling like they have been abandoned.

From my perspective, I think Jace addressed the AA3/6.0 Firmware issue well. AA3 doesn't contain the hardware to support the new features. Not sure what Atomic could do with a firmware update that is responding to the outcry for a pitch block.

But, to add to that, if you look at the beginning of this thread...Atomic Amps said "FYI, We're already hard at work on the next firmware which will include amp models and more [IMG]." on Feb 9, 2018. So, hopefully, we will get another firmware update in 3 months with new amps that will be applicable to the AA3 in addition to the more robust machines.

I understand that you're frustrated, but what you're saying is simply NOT true! We never said that the AA3 would have no further updates and we certainly didn't say that we would no longer be offering support for it.

feeling a little let down that the latest update didn't include the AFB. You've been teasing this update for a while now, which got everyone's hopes up. I think the community would have appreciated being told in advance that it would just be an AA6/12 update.

That's True... this hasn't been said before.... but AA3 and AFB are forgotten for a looooong time....
This thread has almost a year and half old, and no one talked about it anymore. It seems it's wrote just to put some hope in the customers, but never happened.
Ok... AFB is a good piece of gear, but if something is said by the company, it must happened.... if not, we loose our faith and give up about their products.

    Uh...

This thread was about 5.0.3 and the current firmware for the clearly not abandoned AA3 is 6.2.0.1 so...

I email inquiries and confirmed. There aren't any plans for updates, and I'm sad and frustrated.

I suspect/hope this means that there are no announced updates for the AA6/12.

The only way I could see there being no more updates would be if Atomic announced a new model (e.g., AA with a better device ui, android editor, simpler effects, easier sharing, better control features, internal routing, perhaps next level cab and amp sims (but these are pretty good)) that replaces the AA6/12. I would also expect an update our two of the older devices unless Atomic publicly said not more updates.

Now let's see what happens at NAMM and start rumors about the Anderton's discount (on AA6/12/AFB)!

even in that case where a new device would come out it would be pretty disappointing not to make any new updates for the other products taking into account that other manufacturers keep updating and adding to their units frequently. i'm afraid at this point and after all this radio silence from atomic even through the holiday season it's more likely we wont be seeing anything new from them.

I really liked my AA3 and now AA6, but for the next purchase for sure I will take updates into account.
If Atomic would release a new amp or so every 6 months it would already make a huge difference, doesn't have to be new functionality.
It would stop people from wondering if their device is still supported.
There is certainly not much news from Atomic and product launches take forever.

That being said, their support is great (thanks @Jace Nuzback) and for the price the Amplifiers are amazing devices.
I closely follow what is being released in the guitar world, so for I have not been tempted to try something else.

If you want an onslaught of updates; your only real choice is to buy the latest Fractal product. Otherwise get what you get and don't throw a fit :D

The Atomic stuff is aggressively priced and sounds great. If you need stuff it doesn't have, add some outboard gear or move on to something else that does have what you "need".

I once owed the Fractal AX8, and I not only do I prefer Atomic modeling, but Fractal is a pain. Updates often change the sound of presets...more tweaking. They have fractal bot which sucks, and IRs that don't work on anything else. They may very well be the standard when it comes to modeling, but the difference between Fractal, and far cheaper products is getting smaller everyday.
When I bought my AX8 I was underwhelmed, but it did make me appreciate how good Atomic and others are.

@Clint Martin ; I absolutely agree with a lot of what you wrote. I don't want 3,4, or 5 pieces of software to work with a unit. FW updates that change the sound of presets I use for gigging is obviously not a good thing in my eyes either. We are at a spot with these boxes where tone is just about an afterthought in the "decision making process". The AA hangs with the best of them in that regard. The potential customer is just going to have to decide how important everything else is when they go to spend their $.

that's not how the modeling business works. everyone updates their product. if someone wants a static piece of gear that will always sound good then you buy an amp. the atomic products do sound great and they are probably the best thing out there for that price but people will move away from them when the competition will inevitably offer more for the same or lower price. that's how technology works. as for the change of sound of existing presets i actually agree that changes in existing models should be made only if they are really needed. but adding more models would not only keep people using the amplifire longer but bring in more users. there are some pretty big name amps that are not represented even by a single model. and even if that is not in atomic's plans there are still a few almost effortless additions that could be introduced and have been proposed in this forum such as global eq, tuner in the editor etc
