I am a brand new AFB user and finally had quality time working with it through my Presonus USB interface into StudioOne last night. WOW!!! I was blown away with the stock presets out of the box, using the cab sims, out of the 1/4" jack. I primarily tracked with the Kornfield and Hot Brit models and again just blown away with the quality of the tone. Got me thinking maybe I was short sighted in thinking of this as just a recording tool and maybe I need to go live into a power amp and cab. How many of you guys do this now? What power amps have you had success with? I see the Duncan Power Stage looks good, any pedal power amps that sounded good? EHX and Carvin have small form factor pedals that supposedly work well but I'm a tube snob at heart. Can I really cut through a mix using a modeler into a power amp for a full band experience? Man Atomic hit it out of the park with the AFB -- just sounds killer and it morphs very nicely with my guitar pickup changes. Very, very cool product! Thanks --
Thanks for the kind words! I'm so glad that you're enjoying the AFB! I use the Power Stage 170 power amp and a 1x12 cab with a Vintage 30 speaker! Plenty of volume and the EQ really helps dial in the sound for the room you're playing in. Welcome! Yes, the AFB is great. That's why I bought another one. 2 is better than one. I use an FRFR powered monitor at home. At rehearsals, straight to the mixer. In concerts, IEM. No complains at all.
