I've got a Mesa Thiele cab with an Eminence EM12 in it. That's the cab I figured I'd use when I get around to trying my AA's with a power amp and cab.

Amen to that.. I have found a AF12 (mimicking JCM 800) to SD170 to a Zilla cab to work surprisingly well at all gain stages... plus it’s all so portable and compact on stage ... and the three band EQ on the ‘170 is sooooo easy to dial in to tailor to any ambience ... finally it’s affordable. What’s not to like?

The 170 looks great and the new 200 looks even better.

Damn you! I didn’t know about the 200, now this forum is going to cost me more $$$$!

The interesting thing about the 200 is that it seems to have a preamp.
This is great for running overdrive pedals in to it, but no so great for modelers
as they already have a preamp. The 170 does not, so it would still be a better choice
    to go with the AmpliFire.

How warm and clear is it at stage volume? Any top end fizz ?

AF12 + SD170 + H9 was my set up for nearly two years, and never failed me. My sole gripe with AF12 was always that editing in battle is frustrating. 6m ago I was seduced by and bought the Kemper Stage but ... I sold it last week. For me, the AF12 does what I need, and most definitely the EQ on the SD170 makes room tweaks and meaningful tone re-shaping a breeze. One of my better purchases!

After long searching for one, I found it here: https://www.thomann.de/gb/amptweaker_depthfinder.htm

I just bought mine!!! I'm eager to test it with my AFB.

This is my exact setup, and that's exactly why I chose that particular power amp.
I tried a Hotone Mini 6-band Eq after the AFB to solve the "thin sound" sindrome and I have mixed feelings. Yes it can give body to the overall sound but somehow it becomes muddier with certain models (i.e. SLO). Not quite convinced; hence the hunt for the Depth Finder.
