Hey everybody, just wondering if anybody has had any luck dealing in an ambient shimmery clean tone on their Amplifire and are willing to share :) I'm pleased with what I've managed to dial in using the reverb and echo effects on the Amplifire but it's always nice to hear what others have been able to achieve using the same kit.

I'm afraid, that shimmer sound is not possible at the moment. We need pitch/octaver/whammy/shimmer kind of effect for that. I just bought Strymon BlueSky to do that job. :D

I use a Boss RV-6 Reverb for shimmer, which I run in the loop with a long delay on the AF. As others have said, we need a +1 or +2 Octave shifter to get shimmer. Hopefully in an update

I second that. I'm happy with the current amp model offerings in the AA but would love to see the effects augmented. Ambient verbs and delays would be #1 on my list.

I'd also like to see more variety with overdrives and fuzzes and an octave fuzz. A rotary speaker effect would also be cool.

The controls on the AA are to much of a hassle to get the sounds i need. I plugged back in my trusty modfactor...

If you'll provide a link to a representative clip, I'll see what I can do to help.

    Hey Jay

If you have access to a Neunaber, H9 or similar the shimmer on those will get you close.

Like DTS posted we have no pitch which I think may give you the sparkle at the end.

I thought you could get close with a reverb/delay mix but I am a mental misfit in this arena.

Here is one of the earliest example of shimmer, and what set the standard for the effect. Also alot of details about effect to acheive:

    https://valhalladsp.com/2010/05/10/enolanois-shimmer-effect-early-examples/

I have a number of ambient patches I have created on my AF, and have not been able to get a shimmer without another pedal (My Boss RV-6 Reverb)

Not sure how we could get a shimmer with just the AF alone as it needs a pitch shift for +1 Oct and/or +2 Oct and we don't a pitch shifter on the Atomic.

tried using 1ms digital delay with drive, if there was 2 effect lanes it would work

Echo a few comments above, I have a Boss RV-6 and also a Zoom CDR70 to use in the loop. Zoom is cheaper, with a huge amount of effects to choose from, including a shimmer sound along with lots of other tones based on classic pedals (Strymon, EHX etc) and you can build a patch with up to six effects linked (DSP limited.)

Not had chance to try them side-to-side with my new Amplfire to compare.

I spent some time a few weeks back trying to get a shimmer out of this thing with your original patch and then tweaking my own - but no go. It's not possible wi the current effect offerings.

still have to use my RV-6 for this sound.

Like my AF3 but I am seriously considering moving onto a Fractual AX8 as I want the better effects.

I think that studio devil will release a new update soon because of the ampli-firebox, maybe they add new effects... i was using a mxr reverb or zoom ms50g for this kind of sound, if the firebox sounds the same as the amplifire without effects i'll get one and sell the amplifire as there are a lot of good effects on the ms50g.

The prob is The Amp Box doesn't have an effects loop unless I missed something so not sure how it wil work with other effects.

The amplifire box is interesting sounding, but I am worried its gonna distract them from working on the AF3 and AF12 which need alot of work on the effects still. With the Amp box I hope they don't just focus on Amps since it has no effects.

To get an actual shimmer effect, the pitch shift would need to be on delay only.

Imagine the power and creativity we would have in the AF line if you could select putting any/all mod or other effects into a loop on the delay line only. I can't imagine this would be too difficult to implement with a firmware change as you would not be asking the DSP to do any additional heavy lifting as you would still just be using the same number of effect algo's, you would just be modifying where the DSP placed them in the chain.

I would imagine that someone has already requested this in the wishlist thread. If not, I will post it there as well.

This is what I think I dont see why on the signal line you cant have a sub line that splits the signal off so you could then place the delay or reverb there and and whatever follows would only effect what is in that sub line... so if you then created distortion it would only distort the delay or reverb signal or pitchshifter would only pitch shift the reverb or delay...when you are happy you bring the signal flow back into the main line to go through the amp and cab
