Does the 6 have more amp models than the 3?
My situation: I want the Amplifire for the amp sims only (and speaker/eq/cab sims).
I have a rackmount setup I use for effects.

Not conscerned about number of footswitches or exp pedal jacks.

Will the AA3 get newer amps? Is this the deal breaker? Thanks in advance.

AA3 has everything the AA6 has, except for the pitch block, which is not too great. So if you use your own effects, AA3 will do everything for you.

Atomic Amps has stated multiple times that they are not abandoning the AA3, but they do said that newer things might not come to the AA3 as it has limited processing power compared to the newer models.
I don't know if that means that new amps (if any ever appear) will be added only to newer models or also to AA3.
@Jace Nuzback should be able to answer that.

jace has said in the past that cpu-heavy and storage space-demanding effects (like the pitch shifter) would normally not come to the AA3 but there's plenty of cpu horsepower and storage for newer amp models

The AA3 runs the same firmware as the AA6 and AA12.
It has all of the same amp models.
