After some advice and input from you folks over in my "a few questions" thread, I just ordered this unit @ an hour ago. I live in California and have no idea which shipping carrier Atomic uses ( I can't find the info on the site); but nevertheless, I took the plunge and am VERY 'chuffed' as my British friends would say.

    Thanks again so much.

    Excellent!
We use UPS Ground service so you'll likely have it next Friday.

Thank you, Jace. Are there upgrade options for shipping for quicker delivery? Where is it shipping from?

Why thank you, NelsonP. So exciting to get back into this after more than a few years. Modeling has come SO far since I last used it. Also excited about a new electric guitar I’m picking up tomorrow.

    Congratulations!
I have been playing 48 years and have a bunch of gear including a Mesa Lonestar and Marshall JVM 410H. I have never used a stock preset without significant modifications.
I approach my presets like a real amp-tweak the bare amp with no effects and then add effects. Use Jace's tips, they make all the difference. I forget I'm not using a "real" amp all the time

That's exactly how I approached my last X3Live unit, ggwatt. I'd start "turning the knobs" as it were and building presets with the FX disabled until it sounded 'right' (what I wanted to hear), then add FX to taste. There was a tweak or two that I did that really killed the digital sound and made the guitar feel like it was into a real amp, too. Though the X3Live wasn't at the level of modeling we have today, I still some very noteworthy artists that will remain nameless, that thought I had a Marshall hidden somewhere onstage (My last JMP50 watt top was gone by then and flew with my stratocaster and the X3Live all over) and the audiences could care less what was used. The sound matters.

You know, I think we've been playing the same amt of time you and I.

Had the Marshall, Soldano, Boogie etc, wet/dry/wet-based rigs for years- a massive amt of kit using either 3 4x12's or more) and an obscene amt of Gibsons, Fender, Tom Anderson (2), and PRS (6) guitars & fx that I was blessed with over the years. I got into PRS in 1988. Just got back into them, too! hehe. Very excited and thankful. Thanks for the congrats, ggwatt!!

Great to hear there is a growing community and new AA users! (who are using this forum too!)
I hear the phrase "happy as Larry" in the UK too. Not sure who Larry is though? o_O

No. It may be out of stock at Andertons, but the AF12 is NOT discontinued.

I also have used Line 6 stuff with some success. I had some hard earned patches that sounded good. I noticed all my guitars sounded less distinctly different from each other though that older stuff and the feel was not the same.

My last experience of using a modeller live before trying Atomic had been with the original Line 6 Pod Live XT unit. I liked the idea and form factor but the feel wasn't there. I'd had rigs based around Engl Fireball and Marshall JVM amps in the interim but they were quickly retired by the Atomic :D

    (and reply for Dave5150)

What I did to address the lack of "feel" was to use a little device called the Tonebone Radial Dragster. It was made for wireless users and it's a little blue box designed to be on your guitar strap that your wireless plugs into to induce that "plugged-in" feel and load the pickups a bit. This also affects the tone (at least in my case it did) in a positive way and really diminish the "digital modeling" high end and funk attributed to such devices. It works VERY well. There were more than a few others at the pro level that were pretty floored by my humble little setup when I was flying around with this simple setup across the USA, and more than one of them went and bought their own as a result. That was 10 years ago, and the modeling has matured into something I won't even think twice about, and just say "yes, please". hehehe.

HEY, My AmpliFIRE 12 shipped today!

The thing that helped me with that Line 6 based rig was a BBE Sonic Stomp (pedal format Sonic Maximiser). I've no real idea of exactly what it did but it definitely made every more enjoyable to play. I suspect it wasn't much more complex than an EQ pedal in reality.

The Atomic products feel great out of the box anyway. And good news that yours has shipped.

I've never heard an American say that in my life! Now Bob's your uncle is a Brit thing thing right?

Is it in contrast to "Bob's your uncle", ie, you're in deep bandini?
