Kind of a basic requirement for a floor based modeller/multi-effects processor, not sure it's why it's not on there...

There is already a tuner, IIRC just hold middle or right button.

ok the tuner can be activated by press and hold any button associated with an effect but this is not the problem... the problem is that you cannot assign the tuner to a single button;)

    I second that.

A midi CC# to activate the tuner would be great.

I Didn't say there wasn't a Tuner, I said you can't turn it on or off with your foot. It's awkward to bend over to the floor playing live.

You can turn it on with your foot - long-press (hold down) any foot switch that you have assigned to any effect.

    From the manual:

    TUNER
AMPLIFIRE features a built-in tuner to assist in tuning up your guitar.
    • To ACTIVATE THE TUNER, press and hold the SAVE button for one second or
press and hold any footswitch that is set to enable an effect.

    • To EXIT TUNER MODE, press any button.
While in TUNER MODE, AMPLIFIRE will display the closest note and arrows indicating
your tuning in the LCD display window. Adjust the tuning of your guitar until both
arrows point to the center note, indicating the string is in tune.

Note that it DOES NOT work if you have a foot switch assigned to change or increment/decrement patches. When you long-press on a switch assigned to change presets it bypasses the amp-model instead of toggling the tuner.

In fact, I put a wishlist request in to allow us to assign our own long-press behavior instead of having it default.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. With only three buttons, I'm using them all for patch changes. I'd love if I could long-press it to activate the tuner.

I totally agree. A<>B preset switching with long-press option to get tuner (with mute) would be great!

Btw., I would favour this over "two-buttons-at-the-same-time-activates-tuner" as it is known from most other small floor units. But could also live with that.

    Best regards,

I am adding my request for this as well. My buttons are set for A<>B presets. It would be nice to not have an extra tuner pedal if there was a better way to access the one built in.

Amplifire is great for my use. But is there any possibility to assign one footswitch to tuner?
I wish when I shortly press footswitch it would mute output and activate tuner.

You an hold down any foot switch that is assigned to an effect ON/OFF function for one second to activate the tuner.
Press any other foot switch to exit. On the GLOBAL page of the editor you can select weather the signal is muted or not when the tuner is active.

Thank you. I know it. But when playing, it is sometimes difficult to hold it for one second (I turned off assigned effect instead). I would prefer one short step to activate tuner.

Assuming you are going to be mute for several seconds whilst you tune up, you could bend down and activate with your finger (press and hold save, if i recall correctly?)
Alternatively, and if you are keen for a foot solution, a midi message can do the job but would obviously require additional hardware. Might be cheaper to buy an inline or clip on tuner.

...Or maybe just use a mic stand to steady your balance whilst standing on one leg?

It would be better to activate tuner as I wrote - It should be very easy to make improvement to AF12 software. Because I activated/disabled assigned effect on the footswitch by mistake.

I have no problems with balance as yoga techer :)

Only been using the AF 6 for a little over a week, and this is really an obvious suggestion that would add a lot of functionality for very little programming time/consideration.

My vote is to assign a CC to the tuner call/function. This would keep the tuner from taking up a dedicated footswitch (if a midi controller is used). Having it as a dedicated footswitch option doesn't seem difficult to allow as well for those choosing another route as well, no?

Question - @slateboy you say that a midi message can do the job (in the case of the controller) - how would that be done without a CC message assigned?

It would be done locally, either push and hold an effect button or push and hold the save button.
I'm not aware of another method, other than the midi CC assignment.

@slateboy I'm not seeing a CC assignment for the tuner on the default value sheet. Has my reading comprehension completely deserted me? Maybe I'm just missing it? If it already exists, that would be awesome!

By the way - your AF presets are exceptional. I'm using your free ones at the moment while I'm learning how to use this thing (they've already been played out twice). I'll be back once I sort the midi controller to buy some of your other ones.

@Vicenzajay thanks for the feedback. glad you're enjoying them.
My AA units are on tour at the moment so i'm unable to hook up the editor to investigate at the moment.

If someone would be kind enough to post a screen shot of the midi page we can check it out.
    thanks
